How to restore ASUS laptop without Recovery CD? Please Help...

Dear All

Please help me. I have a ASUS laptop which crashed after AVG installation. Did everythying (changed the AVG folder name etc). Now stops at CLASSPNP.SYS in safe mode. Also cant go to Repair ( get message "Windows is Loading Files") and nothing happens....

I dont mind formating and doing complete reset to Factory settings. (I have copied all data). However, I dont have CD for restoring Windows. F9 does not work.

Through midnight manager I can see the folder WindowsImageBackup on my D drive (80GB). Can I use this one (how?)

Please help me in restoring to factory settings.

I willl never use AVG in my life.

When you made the bckup, did you make the Startup repair CD?

Have a look at this. AVG Forums - How To Disable AVG When The Operating System Cannot Be Started Properly

Try that procedure and check whether your problem is resolved.

It is always better to try out the software vendor's solution first before trying out anything else.

EDIT: I presume that your laptop is of recent origin and should still be under Warranty. In that case I would suggest that you contact ASUS service/support in resolving the issue. If they have difficulty in resolving the issue, then they may send you the Restore CD or OEM Reinstall Disk. Check with them.
