How To Restore Original Windows In Sony Vaio To Newly Replaced HDD ?

Hello Everone,
I'm new here and this is my first post.
I have a Sony Vaio VPCCB45FN Green laptop. Bought in 2012. My 640 GB inbuilt HDD got crashed. I replaced it with the same make TOSHIBA ( SATA, 5400 RPM) 1TB HDD. Now, i want to restore my WIN 7 HP x64 to this new HDD. Please help me out to successfully restore the Windows to new HDD.

Hi Siddhartha.

Do you have a System Image? A Backup image of the old HDD?

If you don't have a backup image, and you didn't create manufacturer backup discs, and you do have a readable COA sticker

You could also contact Sony to see if they can get you the "factory recovery media"...they may charge for it ?

Yes I have it...
Actually, the recovery partition is not accessible, still i managed to create image of recovery partition.. but im not sure whether it will work on new HDD or not.

Yes, i've created recovery disks and i even have image of my recovery partition from old(Died) HDD. In fact, i have already restored my laptop many times but time my HDD was in good condition. Now, i've replaced the HDD.

I don't know if an image of the recovery partition can be used (it may be corrupt).
You could wait for someone more experienced to help with that.

Can you boot from the recovery discs you created and restore the system to the new HD using those ?

i have not tried booting in new HDD..It's totally new, i have not experimented. I'll try it and let you know. I'll be out of town for next two days so wont be able to contact.

Try these steps:

1. Boot into the repair disc / Windows installation disc
2. Select "Repair your computer"
3. Connect the disk which contains the backups.
4. Choose the recommended system image or choose a different one if you wish.
5. On the next page select the time period of the image you want to restore to. Click Next.
6. Now choose "Format and repartition disks".
Go ahead and complete the wizard.

It is a good thing that you have a bigger HDD now, because if you would have a smaller one, restore would be hard to do.

back on discussion,
i pasted the RECOVERY PARTITION in my new hdd and started the recovery rescue but its showing Error Code: 22... What is this?

Do you have the full error message? Could you post it here?

i started rescuing windows...it went well for for a while and suddenly it showed Error Code: 22..Thats it ....

Hello guys,
I did everything i could but i was not able to install the original windiws. I had to install pirated Win7 64bit Ultimate SP1.. But the function key is not working and Wireless Network Drivers are not detecting. Please Help me out to update the drivers at least.

You won't get any help in SF for fixing a pirated Windows install, it's against forum rules.

If you're interested in getting a working system with a legitimate license there are many experts here willing to help.
