How to run PartedMagic as A Bootable DVD on 64-bit AMD Turion

I have been trying to run PartedMagic from Ultimate Boot CD (UBCD) as a bootable DVD from ISO. It works fine on my 32-bit Intel Core 2 Duo, but doesn't work on my AMD Turion II P540 Dual-core processor. I am running Windows 7-64 bit SP1 on this computer now. When I try to run PartedMagic from the DVD on the 64-bit computer, I get the following message:


The purpose is to check the drive for errors. ChkDsk reports no bad sectors in the log after restart, but BC Total WipeOut reports over 400 bad sectors, and they were not repaired with an ATA Security erase (Single pass only was available with eval version.)


The reason I want to do this is to repair the bad sectors, overwrite and do a clean install. School has started back, and this is the computer I use for all of my work........


Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

I would try Partition Wizard. Download the iso and burn it to disc, then boot it.

Also, if your HDD is a Fujitsu branded Toshiba HDD, they have their own diagnostic tool

Also, Seatools can test any brand HDD

Try this too, download this: CrystalDiskInfo - Software - Crystal Dew World and open the program and follow the steps in this snip.

This may give you a little bit of time, but the drive should be replaced soon.

I've had good luck recovering bad sectors using Partition Magic and Gparted. Both run as a live cd/dvd/usb. "400 bad sectors" all at once is very odd, maybe from a bad power down or disk overheat. You may recover the disk, but if after reformatting SMART reports over a dozen or so reallocated bad sectors I would not trust it. Try "Hard Disk Sentinel" for testing after repair, it's the most accurate program I have used to date.
