How To Stay Up With Current Software Updates via my email inbox?

For instance, I would like to know when Google releases a new Chrome without clicking on the 'Help' 'About Google Chrome' I looked around to see if I could get email updates to this but I'm not smart enough to do it LOL.

I wonder if this is what an RSS Feed is for, but I can't figure that out either, and don't know if I want to. I really want this stuff coming to my email inbox.

Thanks in advance

Hi Nasty7,

For instance, I would like to know when Google releases a new Chrome without clicking on the 'Help' 'About Google Chrome' I looked around to see if I could get email updates to this but I'm not smart enough to do it LOL.

I don't know if this is of any use, but Brink usually lets us know about this sort of thing in the News forum!

Hey Paul, I try to look at the news every day, and come here often, but I always forget some of my sources and wish they would just come into my inbox. I would also like this to be from the source and not another news outlet as they are not steady in what they report. I do have some of these come to my inbox, but they don't seem to report these things accurately.

I also have all my bookmarks with these things but don't always have time to dig through all that stuff. So trying to learn a better way.

I just looked at the News here, and don't see a Chrome Update Thread, but that was a good idea. Maybe I should post a Chrome Update Thread haha. It looks like anyone can post there. Would be nice to be apprised of Adobe Flash Updates also. Just little things I like to know without running an Update tool on my pc or other digging through my bookmarks every day.

Thanks

Good info RoWin7, I do like to know when these things happen immediately and this has not been the case for me. Maybe I miss the little Colored notifications for Chrome I don't know. Or it just hasn't got to me yet, but I want to know so when on others computers I feel that my knowledge is good.

It's a little box on the upper right corner, easy to miss, and it usually appears when you load the program. Or you can do it manually, clicking the white arrow in the red oval in your toolbar.

I just today tried an RSS Feed and did not like it. It did not provide what I wanted and the Feed was all over the place. "feedly Mini" is what I tried, but the feed was not as clear as going to the actual blog. The things that I would like to follow the most would be:
Chrome
Firefox
Adobe Flash
Java
I use Avast to Update these things right now, and subsequent Pop-up notifications, but still need to keep apprised.

Still exploring things, google news, yahoo news, don't know yet. All of them have features to follow things like this but none look that good to me yet. May be that I'll just find a good News website to subscribe to, but have not yet.

I read nytimes.com. You don't know where Yahoo and Google get their news, or how reliable it is. Washington Post is reputable too.

Re: post #7
Firefox also sends out a notice of a new one. Go into Tools>Options, open a few tabs, and there's a pref there for being notified of updates.

You don't mean Java, but Javascript. I think it updates automatically with Firefox ad Chrome, but I'm not sure.

Flash--go to Control Panel>Flash Player>Updates
