Solved How To Update Atheros Drivers

Hi guys,

I downloaded the latest Atheros drivers for my wireless card. They came in a zip file and I have no idea how to install them!!


I have a Sony Vaio laptop running Windows 7.


Can anyone help please?

Have you extracted the contents of the folder yet? If not, do so by right-clicking on it and then click Extract All..., accept the default folder name.

Follow this Tutorial to install the driver: Device Manager - Install Driver - Vista Forums Note that the category will be Network adapters and that folder you browse for in Step 9 will be the extracted folder above.

Just another question - I have extracted the files. Once I update the driver can I delete the folder of the extracted files or does Windows need that to stay where it is?

No, you can safely delete it. However, you may consider saving it to a USB stick just in case you need to install the driver again.

out of interest, which driver version was it ,ive been looking for the atheros drivers and im curious to see if its the same one

Thanks dwarf, the AR9285 showing for win 7 is version 9.1.0.328

i got one elsewhere and its version 9.2.0.105 ,

Julian, the link I gave shows the latest driver for that adapter as 10.0.0.75 WHQL
