Solved How to upgrade my 120gb ssd to a 240gb ssd: Help needed

Hello

I'm seeking help to upgrade my actual 120gb SSD drive to a Corsair F240 SSD drive
I did instal Macrium Reflect software to make an image. But I' m completely lost...

Any body could explain what is the step by step to do

Actually, my main drive is in C: The new drive is in d:
At the end, I want to unplug the actual c drive Intel 120gb and have the new Corsair F240 to be my C drive

Any help appreciated

Hello and thanks for the reply.

No other post than this one and the other what was suggested to install the Macrium. I did load the software but then I'm lost

- The new drive appear as a fat32 and the actual drive is in NTSF I did try to convert it, but it keep appear has a fat32

Do I do An image all local drive or create an image of the partitions requiered to backup windows

All these informations is like reading Chinese for me

Hello again

If I understand well, first I need to convert the fat32 to NTSF:

I did load the CMD as an administrator
Convert d: /fs:NTSF

When I do it, I receive a message <Translation from French:> The conversion of the FAT32 volume in NTSF volume is not available (La conversion du volume FAT32 en volume NTSF n'est pas disponible)

The D: drive is empty

Looks like Macrium asks if you want to image all or a portion of files to another or if you want to clone the disk to another. You want to clone the old disk to the new.

If both ssd's are detected then you should be able to clone from one drive to the target drive and Macrium should do all the work.

Another tip is to remove the sata cable off the old drive once you've cloned the new drive then change in bios the boot order to reflect the new drive either before or after the optical drive if applicable. Then boot up and have a good look around, if all your data is there and you are happy then you can attach the sata back up and then format (wipe clean) the original ssd and do with it what you want.

- Did succeed to have my new drive formated in NTSF
- Did succeed to do an image and reload it on the new drive

All file seem to be present

The problem now is that my new drive (240GB) is seen to have the same capacity (120 GB) of the original

I did try twice. 1' Image with the C drive + SSD firmware
2' Image of the c: drive only

Both trial give me the same capacity of 120 gb

Something else I should do?

Go into Drive Management and the 240G drive will probably show a 120G partition with another 120G as unallocated. You should be able to expand the existing 120G partition in order to use the whole 240G as a single partition.
