DO NOT TURN OFF AERO. EVER. That is that last thing you want. The CPU is more limiting then the RAM, getting as much work off of the CPU is by far the best thing one can do.

Where you having a negative impact or issues with the netbook when it was on 1 GB?
If not I say it was perfectly fine for its role.

It's actually quite easy to turn off. The point was, turning it off isn't going to boost performance. If you understand how Aero works, you'll see quickly why it should be left on.

My aunt's computer is running Windows 7 Ultimate with Aero Glass enabled. The PC is a Pentium 4 2.8 GHz (Prescott A), 768 MB RAM, and a Geforce FX5200.

It runs fine. It wouldn't run games well, but all she uses it for is internet and office.

It's also running MSE 2.0.

I've installed Windows 7 Home Premium x86 in a machne with similar specs, and runs pretty fine, even with aero enabled, the memory usage goes acording with how many ram you have (whs already said so), so you probably will start with 512 or 600 MB of primary usage, tweaked this can be lowered to 300 MB or 400... but will run fine, I tested and works... anyway, I would consider adding at least 1 GB more for better speed. (don't try the x64 version with that amount of RAM, it will run pretty slow)

See ya!!!! :D
