HsMgr.exe*32 Causes 32-bit program issues.

I have found out that this process is causing my 32-bit programs (FireFox, Internet Explorer, Steam, etc) to not run. Although when I try to run them, their process appears, no actual window appears. As soon as I end the process of HsMgr.exe*32, all the programs run perfectly fine. I have two HsMgr.exe programs running on my system for some reason. a 64-bit version (HsMgr64.exe) and the 32 bit version (HsMgr.exe*32). I was wondering if it is possible to simply delete this 32 bit version from my system folder to prevent it from starting up when my PC starts up. Considering when I stop it, nothing bad seems to happen, I don't see how it would be a problem. Just checking to see if anyone knows what this does.

Hi and welcome to seven forums

those are sound card drivers.
HsMgr.exe (32-bit) and HsMgr64.exe (64-bit) are services that provide the GX2.0 features.

Under Vista, they also enable Directsound 2D/3D/EAX for applications, so it is not a good idea to disable any of them.

On older drivers, these files were named CMGxMon.exe and CMGxMon64.exe.

so I suspect you dont want to disable them

Um.. well it's either leaving them, and not being able to run basically any games, or disable them, and be able to run games, so.... I think I am going to go with disable them. I did disable HsMgr.exe*32 from running at startup, and left HsMgr64.exe, running, considering, as I said, the 32-bit version is the only one that is causing the issue. These are the most up-to-date drivers so, I suppose updating is out of the question, for now anyway. Thanks though

I have the exact same problem. When I close the 32 bit program it works perfectly. How do I stop it from starting up everytime?

Incase it is a possible hardware compatibility issue here is my spec. I hav also recently upgraded from Vista to 7.

To stop the program from starting up every time, follow these simple steps:

1) Click Start (Windows Logo)
2)Type cmd in search box
3)Click on cmd to open the command prompt window
4) Type msconfig and hit enter
5) Click the tab that says Startup that appears on the window that pops up
6) Find the 32-bit program, and unselect it, Click Apply, And OK.

Hope this works out for you. Don't see why it wouldn't. If you have any troubles, you can just reply back.

Works for me.

At last, I have been using the beta since it came out, then went onto the RC when that came out, loved them, never had any issues and couldn't wait to get the full retail version. Installed the retail Home premium yesterday ( have had it for a month but hadn't got round to installing it) and most if not all of my 32bit apps were only running in task manager and not showing. I found I could run a few like FF and MSN by running as Admin, but thought this defeated the object a bit.

After removing HsMgr.exe*32 from startup all my problems have gone away and everything works like it should. Even my sound works fine. In fact I havn't found anything that doesn't work yet.

So thankyou very much Sean1082, you have saved my PC from being thrown out of the window.

Glad I could help. When I made the post, and looked around, it seemed I was the only one with this problem, and was hoping with Windows 7 being out for a bit this problem would arise in more peoples PCs, which it seems it has.

I had this problem ever since i installed a new sound card.

I was under the impression it was some thing to do with svchost (local network) causing the system to being over loaded with requests not allowing any problems (with out run as adminstrator) running.
