What graphics card are you using? Have the most current drivers? Any software installed or other system modifications around the time of malfunction?

As was already asked, what is the brand/model of video card? Have you upgraded drivers lately? What are the two monitors?

When you go into Device Manager, what do you see for the "display adapter", and what version of the drivers is shown? Are the drivers from Microsoft or from the video card vendor?

What is the resolution of the VGA monitor?

What is the setup for the two monitors... (a) extended desktop, or (b) clone mode (i.e. both monitors are sent the identical output)?

In Device Manager, what is shown for the "monitors"? Do you have some kind of "generic PnP" designation for the digital monitor on DVI, or do you have a specific name that implies it's connected with DVI?

Are you using a DVI-D cable or DVI-A cable or DVI-I? I suppose if you are using the wrong cable then the digital monitor can't tell the video card and drivers that it can accept higher resolution, and maybe that's why you're being restricted to VGA 640x480. Dont' know. But where did the DVI cable come from, and are you using a DVI-to-VGA adapter?

Has anything just changed? You say this has been working for 2 weeks? What environment did you come from 2 weeks ago, and what changed yesterday? Is this whole hardware setup new... computer, video card, monitors, etc.?
