Using any Torrent downloads is based on a number of external factors. It really has nothing to do with your internet connection speed excerpt that you can't go over the Max download speed of your connection. Slower is normal in most cases.

Do a Speed Test at the many Speed Test sites to see what your internet speed is from various places. If it is always lower then your plan then contact your ISP to see about resetting your connection.

If you want to max out torrent downloads, I suggest you try downloading this and see if you get the same speed:

http://releases.ubuntu.com/12.10/ubuntu-12.10-desktop-i386.iso.torrent

By the way, kbps(kilobits per second) is different from KBps or KB/s(kilobytes per second)

Usually, ISPs would market their speed in terms of Mbs (Megabits per second). I think your ISP means 720 kilobits per second.

Here's a good read on the matter:

What does KBps and Kbps mean and how do they reflect transfer speeds? Satellite Forum FAQ | DSLReports.com, ISP Information

750kbps is a very slow line. Maybe you want to upgrade.

You can test your line speed here: Speed Test : upload and download | DSLReports.com, ISP Information

Upload and download speeds are very different. And it also depends on the speed of the server you are dealing with.

Not in these parts of the world mate. My line is a 2 Megabit one and it's considered pretty good here.

Of course given I know the speeds most people on the other side of the world are getting, I'm not thrilled about it. :cry:

The most reliable speed test I have found is "Testmy.net" from the following link;

http://testmy.net/

On the main page select the option in the lefthand column as shown below;

TestMyNet screenshot.jpg

Then on the next screen select test size and choose the 50 mb;
