I have left updates too long now I am all mixed up

I have not updated since May last year because I like to do some homework on the updates before I install but have been so busy working on the computer that I have just left it.

I checked for updates and it auto installed a few for office 2010 and also KB4055532 but no others because I have it set to check and ask first and also have unchecked the "give me recommend the same as important.
Questions
how come it installed these without asking and me manually doing it.
I have 8 other office ones from October to now that are still waiting for my say- so. Why did they not do the same and auto install.
Is the mess up now sorted with the meltdown thing
Am I ok to install the 219mb roll up sitting waiting for me KB4093118
And KB2952664
I have two computers to do and have not restarted since the auto install of KB4055532.

Some updates are critical in nature and must be pushed for improved experience.

I would suggest installing all of the standard monthly updates from 2017 and prior years. But only the "important" ones, not the "optional" ones.

I would hold off on all of the updates for 2018, because problems have been reported with many of these updates.

And also I have the 219mb roll up - KB4093118

But KB4093118 is all I have which would include the updates I have missed since last May but also it includes the "iffy" ones from this year doesn't it
