Solved IE 11 refuses to add some sites to favorites

Hello all, my first post.
Recently I've come across just a few sites that I can't add to favorites. I right-click on the page, select "add to favorites", and absolutely nothing happens. The add-to-favorites dialogue box doesn't appear.
Here's the URL for one such site.

(If I trim the URL down to just https://www.aliexpress.com/ then add-to-favorites works correctly).

I checked this out with a couple of friends running ie11 in windows 10, they can add the site to favorites just fine. But I can't, and that's a nuisance when it happens. (My workaround is to create a desktop shortcut for the page, then just drag and drop it into the appropriate favorites subfolder).

Is it something in the URL, or in the way my IE11 is configured, or what? Most sites work just fine.
I haven't tried a reset yet - under tools/internet options/advanced/reset - I'm a bit nervous that that might only make more problems for me.

Any ideas please?

hi can you add it by using the star in upper right hand side of window? click the star then click on add to favorites.

Hi Oscer, thanks for reply. No nothing works for that site. Doesn't matter how I access favorites, whether from menu bar top left, star top right, or right click on the page then click add to favorites, I can't bring up the usual dialog box that invites me to name the bookmark and choose a subfolder. Nothing happens, the dialog box doesn't appear.
Can you actually add that site to favorites in the way you normally would?

I just tried adding to favorites the site you referred too. I doesn't for me neither so I have to clue why not.

That's the darnedest thing. I couldn't get it to wok either. I've never seen that before.

Never mind, I guess we'll never know. Anyway, it doesn't happen often and there's always the workaround. Thanks for all replies.

Looks like a bit of bad page coding -

Web pages today are rarely written in HTML, which was at least human readable, (with a bit of practice), these one click site building systems are less than perfect and either add page after page of auto comments or nothing at all and don't bother with spacing things out either - great compact code, when it works but hard to read and impossible to fix when it doesn't

Well, I am going to guess that the "src=google" part would suggest that the OP came to the site from a google search either directly or somewhere back down the line.

This is irrelevant to the discussion, but , Sevenforums added those two smilies to my previous post.
Seemingly, -the colon symbol followed by p- can represent the "Stick Out Tongue" ,and, -the colon symbol followed by D- can represent the "Big Grin", so those two smilies were inserted in their place.

Stopped using IE a while back due to this issue, maybe some sites are blacklisted .
