IE "Choose File to Upload" reverts to detail view after each upload

I have seen a few threads similar to this problem on this forum and I believe I have tried all the possible solutions that I've seen, but the problem persists.

On my co-worker's PC (Win7 Pro, 64-bit, SP1), when he uses Internet Explorer to upload image files to a website, the "Choose File to Upload" dialog always opens in detail view. He'll switch to large thumbnails, look for the file he needs to upload, upload it, and then move on to the next upload (this particular website only lets you upload one file at a time, unfortunately), and the dialog resets to detail view. This is incredibly frustrating for him, especially because I don't have this problem on my (identical) PC.

I've gone through all the folder view settings and painstakingly checked all the Internet Options looking for what might be different between our two systems, and I'm coming up dry. I have tried messing with the registry, doing a System Restore or two, downgrading him from IE11 (which we were both using) to IE10, and it keeps happening.

This doesn't happen in Chrome, but unfortunately the one website we have to use is one of those "Designed for IE, not supported in any other browser" sites (ARGH).

Is there anything I'm not thinking of that could be causing this? His PC is brand-new (A Dell, like all of ours) from just a couple of months ago. He doesn't have any malware that I've been able to spot, and is not an Administrator on the computer (the problem also exists when logging in as an Admin, though). He's prompted for an Admin password any time something tries to install, so I doubt he's managed to crud up his system in that way.

I'd like to help the poor guy out. It's bad enough having to upload one photo at a time on an IE-designed site in the first place, but having to reset the view every. Single. Time. Yeesh. Any thoughts?

Hi, thanks. The specific website that we use daily is www.homestepsconnect.com, a site run by Freddie Mac (we're a contracting company). But I have tried using his PC at a few other "upload a file" sites, like www.speedyshare.com, and I get the same result in IE.

Speedyshare well it's just a login page but near as bad as the other,

Unfortunately theirs not allot one can do with uploaders on websites,
You can however attempt this and see how it goes,
When on the site press the F12 key and click on Document mode and switch to ie7,
You can also use a different browser mode like ie9-8 or even 7 especially for freddiemac

Thanks, but no go, unfortunately.

The thing is, these aren't website uploaders per se -- uploaders coded into the site. They're Windows dialogs. I wish there was something I could do short of reinstalling Windows (though with our luck even that wouldn't work, heh).

Hi,
Most if not all businesses use windows,
Uploaders are site dependent not local,
The uploaders search uses active x content to access your files on your computer,
It's possible your computer is blocking the active x content,
Click on the Gear symbol on the top right and Safety see if active x filtering is activated by a check mark,
Also visible if a Blue circle with a slash thought it appears on the right end of the url address bar,

If you can take a screen shot of the search for files dialog box and post it,
