IE continuously becoming default browser after chrome install

So I installed chrome a while ago and for some reason due to that(60% sure it is due to that) firefox kept asking to become default browser everytime I would launch it. I would choose OK and then again next time firefox would launch it would ask me the same thing. So I uninstalled chrome and now it is internet explorer doing the same thing. I launch firefox and then it would ask me if I want it to become the default browser I choose OK and immediately 'dllhost.exe' launches and shows up in taskmgr and does something and switches default browser from firefox to IE.

I can turn off firefox from asking to become default browser but is there a way to stop the 'dllhost.exe' from making IE the default and stop this loop?

Hi Dfs4,
you have 2 options both via control Panel

1) select your browser of choice vie Default programs
2) turn OFF IE .. programs/features >> features (top left side) a new smaller window will open
uncheck IE11.
