IE8 Blocked 275 Million Pieces of Malware

Since it was introduced

Microsoft continues to beat the drum of Internet Explorer 8’s superiority in terms of security compared to rival browser. The Redmond company has used the Black Friday and Cyber Monday days, and the boost in online shopping associated with the two post-Thanksgiving dates, to stress the importance of running a secure browser for end users that do their shopping online. According to statistics made available by the software giant, IE8 managed to block in excess of 275 million pieces of malware since the browser was introduced.

“To date, Internet Explorer 8 has delivered over 275 Million malware blocks. And as of September, Internet Explorer 8 is blocking 1 in every 200 downloads that appear as malicious. Internet Explorer 8 also helps protect your privacy with InPrivate Browsing,” explained Brandon LeBlanc, Windows Communications manager on the Windows Client Communications Team.

IE8 gets you the latest adware cookies though. FF is a much better and safer browser.

I went all out and use Google Chrome, one of the fastest and most secure browsers ever made. Whoever thought of individual processes for each tab/plug-in is a GENIUS!!!

Fast but far from the most secure.;)

I would also add that I would never use IE8 or MS software to do on line shopping the browser and software is virus/malware central if you want to due safe online shopping use a open source that has no know malware on the web.

I'am pretty sure the OP was not asking for any of your incorrect opinions about IE. You FF users are starting to sound like the APPLE clowns. FF is a joke and so is chrome. There is No advantage to using them at all, IMO it's a disadvantage.

This doesn't look very efficient to me:

"And as of September, Internet Explorer 8 is blocking 1 in every 200 downloads that appear as malicious. "

Maybe there's something wrong with the writing.
This doesn't seem all that great to me.

IE has a long history of being targeted by hackers simply because it is installed on ALL windows machines to date, this is not a hard concept to grasp and why avoiding it is wise especially when the free competition is often better and is.... free

Calling great free software a joke is remarkable, ITS FREE and whats even MORE remarkable is it's often better than IE made by highly paid "professionals". The real question is where is your money going if others can make better products FOR FREE?
