IE8 crash when closing the application

I am using WIndows 7 X64 and when closing ie8, I received an error

I followed the intructions to get a .dmp file to send u

You can configure Windows to create user-mode dumps. Create a System Restore Point first.

If you copy and paste the following in Notepad and save as a .reg file, then right-click the .reg file and select "Merge" to add to the registry, a .dmp file at the time iexplore.exe crashes should be created in the C:\CrashDumps folder:

Why don`t you upgrade to at least Internet Explorer 10.

Welcome to Seven Forums albertf. Can you post a screenshot of the exact error you receive when you close IE8?

Try running the no add-on version

Start> In search box type

Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)

Enter

See if that crashes as well. If so, you likely have an add-on causing this.

Try performing a clean start and see if the crash still occurs

An update to IE9 may also solve this, and is more secure then IE8. IE10, as suggested would also be a good choice. If you have a particular reason for sticking with IE8, perhaps we can suggest a fix or work around for that.

I can not at this time upgrade to IE9, 10, and 11 since on these versions of IE, I can NOT print from either of my two HP printers. I have tried microsoft tech support and spoke to level 2 tech who was not able to fix my issue. ONLY IE8 will let me print from my two printers.

It may be easier for you to find out why you can't print from a later version of IE. I cannot deal with the dump files personally, and the events you post could have countless causes. That's why I asked for the steps I can try. I'd suggest start a thread about only being able to print with IE8. Post a link to this thread as a reference as well. You really need to get onto a more secure browser, especially when IE8 crashes now. It's likely someone here can figure out the printing issue. A Guy
