This tutorial should answer most of your questions about a repair install. Specifically, you would have to check Windows Updates and you will probably have to reinstall most if not all.

Since this is a time consuming project I recommend NOT installing them all at once. If an update causes issues for your computer you won't have any clue which one it is. My preferred method is to install maybe 5 at a time, reboot and run the computer for a while to make sure all is working. If there is a problem you'll know exactly which group of 5 is involved. Uninstall all 5 updates then reinstall one at a time. They'll either all install properly or you'll know which update is causing the grief.
