IEll - make default

Had recent computer crash. IT person had to use my Win7 disk to reboot from.
He managed to salvage files (not all).

I have ended up with Chrome browser as my default. How can I revert to IE 11 please?
At the moment I open IE 11 through Chrome!

Appreciate assistance please.

Yep Chrome install corrupts a lot
Open Chrome and switch the setting to not be default and not to ask on start to be default.

Then reset ie11 and make sure you check the box to delete personal settings.

Re-read your post.

Before you attempt to do anything, do windows update to ensure the system is up to date.

This is to ensure your system is totally update on critical and security to avoid further crash.

Don't forget to create a System Restore Point.

IE is part of Windows system in any versions.

You need to bring IE out of the box, as you can do it. Edit: If you cannot find IE program.

Open Control Panel --> click on Programs --> under Programs and Features -

--> click on "Turn Windows features on and off" --> put a mark on the box next to Internet Explorer 11

Edit: Required to restart the computer.

Finally, open Internet Explorer 11 and will ask you to set as default browser.

Edit: If possible, check if there is an update for IE.


Hence you do not need Chrome, then you need to uninstall Google Chrome.

Do check with the IT person on the company policy in using Chrome as browser.
As it can be set by the Administrator.

Guess is that it is default due to the Chrome setting that to open MSN url.

Chrome --> Setting, scroll down to click on "Show advanced settings"
At the On Startup, there are 3 options.
On the 3rd option "To open a specific page or set of pages. Set pages"
All you need is to confirm on the Company policy with the IT staff, and if possible check whether you want to use IE, is it possible.

Start> Control Panel> Internet Options> Programs Tab> "Make Default" > Apply

Also if you check the box "Tell me if IE is not the default browser" you get a pop up when you launch IE that will allow you to set it as default if another browser has been set as default.
