It fits the socket but does it have to support the CPU as well? I want to buy a cooler and i see in the description that other than the socket they also list what CPUs are supported, but some just say the socket, i'm confused.

What Cooler is it? (Manufacturer, Model.)

Using those details, Google for the cooler manufacturer's website, find the Model number or code. (Usually there is a Search Box, you can type the model No. in there.)

What Socket is your Motherboard? If you don't know, find your motherboard manufacturer and model number, then use their website to find your socket number. If you have kept the box from the motherboard, or the details of your PC if you just bought a system, the details will be there.

The cooler website will tell you which Sockets and CPU's it supports.

Yes, you should make sure the cooler supports the processor you plan to use. For example, some early Socket 775 coolers are not recommended for use on later Core 2 Quad processors, etc. Given the amount of coolers on the market, and the damage that can be done by using an improper one....don't skimp in this area. Make sure it will support your intended processor.

Some coolers make reference to the CPU as well as the socket since the heat sink must be able to dissipate the heat created by the CPU. While different CPU's may use the same socket, one may need a better cooler to keep the temperature under control if it uses more power.

Thanx, and i saw a cooler where in description said "up to" core 2 core, does that mean it supports any processor made until that one? Mine is Celeron i think its older?

I'm not sure, as language can change from cooler to cooler. Any good cooler, worth the money, will have clear documentation as to what it supports.
