These phones are way cool, better than android and way way better than the iphone!

Discover Windows Phone 7 | Newest Cell Phones | Windows Phone 7

This here is the site to discover said phone device, but keep in mind, you need a 32 bit browser with Silverlight installed to use it unfortunately. But it's well worth it.

And on another side note, oh gosh, it's getting me stoked for the new user interface of Windows 8!

Personally, I still believe WP7 is targeted for mainstream consumers (i.e. iPhone). As such, I see it as purely eye-candy.

I still stick to my old WM6.5 HD2 since I believe it has more power (software-wise) than W7, even though it's not really user friendly. But but the fact that I can still use registry editors, system status viewers, etc. or edit the kernel, and especiially have a COMPLETE file system makes me think WM6.5 > WP7.

Now if only they can get that Windows Embedded Handheld 7 going... That combines the good of both WP7 and WM devices in to one! *drool*

USB mode can be used on the computer that is used for syncing through a reg edit, a little inconvenient but I've rarely used or heard of using the phone as a USB drive.

Multi-tasking is coming in as the biggest update for WP7 with the Mango update.

Internet tethering I've seen is done through a backend enabling, but Mango I believe is going to provide that without going through the back end....

I don't know for sure about musical equalizer though, I've never really used it since paired with decent headphones and good speakers, it doesn't seem necessary.

Third-party apps are still getting there. It's like how when apple introduced the app store, it didn't have a 100,000 apps the first day or a million the first year or so. But a lot of the apps are actually quite decent.

Microsoft seems to be ditching some bluetooth in recent years so that is a con for some.

I think custom ringtones are accomplished through jailbreaking, which Microsoft fully allows. But again, the Mango update might allow that natively.

The Mango update doesn't have a few negligible updates, it's more along the lines of over 500 different updates. Service pack? Probably.

And for the Zune dependency, I don't care that much about it since the Zune Software is simply amazing to look at and use. I love me some eye candy.....:)

In regards to being to dependent on Zune, I would disagree there.
I think that parts excellent.

But I love the Zune software and its subscription service. So syncing with Zune on my PC would be great.
I realize not everyone would agree here though.
Perhaps you really need to be a Zune user/subscriber for this to have any benefit whatsoever.

But as for the rest of it .. I too agree. Needs some more options and flexibility.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the lack of Win32 API support for WP7 despite the fact that it's based on WinCE. Win32=Windows like system :|

WP7 need to cater to us techies; otherwise it'll just be something eye-candy wich, I have to admit, is still impressive short-term.
