Most users only copy their Documents, Pictures, Videos, Music, Downloads, Favorites and Desktop to the data partition, rather than the entire User profile Those would be the ones to link, but only if you're using each.

The hidden folders do not need user access via Libraries.

I hope you confirm for me how I control which user folders are shown in the start menu.
I saw that the user folders shown in the start menu are only these highlighted in the screenshot below.

However, if you see this screenshot I quoted from Brink's tutorial you will see that only games and favorites folders are shown.




Is it because he only included(linked) the favorite and games folders in the library and I changed the user folders' profile folder with all its folders to another location other than the default?

Rightclick on an empty black area of the Start Menu for Properties and then "Customize." The Menu choice has a fold-out menu, the Link choice opens a new Window with choices.

If you permitted me, I would like to say I have remembered now that Brink explained here how to change the user account's profile folder, so he would be facing the same error while reimage the OS partition only.

You would need to include the Data partition in the image if the app requires it as does Windows Imaging, or you can move the User Profile back to C as shown in Option 1 Method 2 of User Profile - Change Default Location

I really always have been asking myself:

Why are all user accounts automatically saved on another partition other than system partition during installation in all the windows earlier than Windows 7. However, all user accounts are saved on system partition in Windows 7.

I agree it is not really beneficial to move the data to another partition if it must be included in the image, since the greatest benefit to doing this should be to make the image smaller and have the data current and ready in its own partition in case C needs to be reimaged.

However there are workarounds which I have already given you several times:

You can move the User profile back to C, then copy each active User folder to the data partition. Now right click each User folder on the data partition to add it to the related Library - Include a Folder - Windows 7 Forums. Once all files are copied to data partition delete them from the C>User folder. In the Library window set the Data partition folder as the Default Save Location for that library. Leave the User folder from C in the Library, too, so you can monitor that nothing gets written there and if it does drag it to the data partition folder.

Thank you very much, Gregrocker, I really don't want to disturb you; however, I would like to finish this thread.

I also quite agree with you that there is no benefit to move user accounts to another partition if data partition is included with OS partition in an image. however, there is no problem during restoration as long as a user can choose which partitions should be reimaged(restored). So a user will only need to restore all two partitions in case he looses data partition or restore another image also containing data partition and OS partition.


However, in fact, I think that the significant disadvantage of imaging data partition along with OS partition is that OS partition will only be changed from time to time. However, data partition will always be changed. So when you let Data partition is included with OS partition in an image, the differential images will be append to full image which which is originally (OS and data partition). So data partition will be loaded with OS partition in each differential image.
