In Windows Explorer want to see actual .jpg image, not generic icon

Some time in the past, when browsing through my folders with Windows Explorer, .jpg's and .bmp's showed up as their actual images, so I could see which picture was which. Recently, however, all that Windows Explorer (View Extra-Large Icons) shows is a generic picture of a mountainous seacoast. Any way to get it starting showing thumbnail images again, instead of generic icons????
