Incorrect screen resolution on Windows 7

Hello! Have been trying to find a solution to this, but so far I found nothing to help me (either I'm not looking in the right places).

I've recently upgraded from Windows XP 32 bit to Windows 7 64 bit, however, the native screen resolution of 1366x768 doesn't stretch on the whole screen. I have two black bars on the left and the right side of the screen and I'm not sure what else to do at this point. On Windows XP I had no such problem.

I've tried the auto setting of the monitor, changed the screen resolution from the control panel, but neither helped much. I think(?) all the drivers have been installed (father dealt with these and he didn't know how to fix this screen resolution problem either).

Also, noticed that in most of the games the screen resolution changes and fits the screen perfectly.

The monitor is a Philips LCD 192E with a native resolution of 1366x768 @ 60Hz.

It would say that both are not compatible, somewhat.
If you ever use laptop, there should not have this display problem.
That is to say that laptop screen is customize correctly according to match.

There is nothing much can be done.
Just think that a "big size + fat" passenger cannot fit properly to 1 economy seat of airplane.
Either provide the passenger a bigger/wider seat or let the passenger take 2 economy seats.
But with wider seat, it can be just fitting = consider this a laptop.
Or occupy 2 seats, there will be some space on both sides = this is happen to you, now.

Hi and welcome.

Have you installed the video card drivers after the installation of Windows 7?
I would go to the Nvidia support site and get the latest drivers.

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
Are you referring to a desktop back ground image that shows the black bars on the sides ?

What pixel size is the back ground image ?
Right click your desktop back ground and select Resolution is it set to it's recommended resolution or other ?
Also use the Personalize listing,
On the bottom left click the back ground link
Is it set to fill/ Fit/... ?

Usually it will be because the image is not the same size as the resolution size
In that case you'd have to use Stretch which will most likely fill the screen but distort the image.

Hi,

We have the same card but I have a 17-inch wide monitor (1440x900)

Have you tried going in NVIDIA Control Panel and adjust the scaling mode? In Display > Adjust desktop size and position > Scaling Tab and choose between Aspect Ratio, Full Screen, or No Scaling.
