I've done multi-boot setups, but usually on one physical drive. Although on one machine I had about 6 OS on 2 physical drives but that was on a 486 a long time ago. :) But I seem to remember when you install XP it puts its boot files on the root of C: no matter where it is. You need to copy ntdetect.com and ntldr from the XP install CD to the partition where XP actually is. Then the boot loader menu program will find it. Just adding XP to the menu isn't enough.
