Intel GMA 4500MHD?

Is the Intel Graphics Media Accellerator 4500MHD any good for gaming with 4 GB of DDR3 DIMM memory?

It was under the category of gaming laptops, but for some reason, i cant see a gfx card without any dedicated memory being any good for gaming (ex. cod6, or Star Wars TFU at 720 resolution)

And is it similar to the ATi Radeon Mobility 4200 that also doesnt have any dedicated memory, but has 3GB shared memory?

Rubbish. You won't play any modern game at the native resolution of your laptop/desktop. Unless the resolution is 800x600. The CPU must also match up, so a new dual-core @ 2.6GHz or higher.

Ok, what about the ATi Radeon 4200. It said it has 3 GB shared memory, and i think with 6 GB DDR3 SoDimm would make it fast right? The CPU was at like 2.4 GHz

No, for a GPU you need:

• Core speed
• Shader amount
• Shader speed
• Memory amount
• Memory Type
• Memory Speed
• Memory Bandwith
• Pixel Fillrate
• Texture Fillrate
• Texture Units
• ROP's

So my 4890 has 800 shaders running @ 850MHz along with the core. It has 1GB of GDDR5 running @ 3.9GHz and a bandwith of 124.8GB's. The other specs are available online or with GPU-Z - the integrated 4200 would fail, it does not have enough grunt and neither does the CPU backing it.

what about an adapter i saw? It connected to an express card slot, and i could put any desktop GFX card in it. Say i get a 1 GB GDDR5 card, and put that in it. Would it up my gaming level to a respectable amount?

No. It would never provide the right amount of bandwidth.

integrate graphics can run many older games, although some of those are even a bit much for the newest integrated graphics chipsets. the games you listed are out of the question, but there are some older great games, like morrowwind and diablo 2 the orginal half life and games from that era that would work wonderfully. oblivion is even playable at decent settings if you grab a few mods made for low resource computers and many of those modders are currently working on fallout 3 so there is always hope. but for serious gaming your going to need at least a mid range dedicated card ATI has been releasing some pretty nice ones dancing around the hundred dollar price point so if you want a desktop maybe you can budget that in.

Also your laptop needs to have an ExpressCard 2.0 slot, and yours doesn't have one. here is the details of that unit,

direct from the manufacturer, and you laptop isn't one of the supported models.

Hey man, not true. Some of the best gaming machines out there are Laptop Devices. And returning to the topic: I have Intel GMA HD and I love it. At first I thought it would be a simple energy efficient device used for minimally intensive appications, but it is supprisingly effective. I have a 5.4 gaming graphics score in the Windows Experience... whatever it is. But it really does depend on the ram, ram speed as well as cores and GHZ of the processor. I'm running 4 GB DDR3 Ram at 1200 MHZ and an intel core i3 at 1.3 GHZ and fluxuates to up to 2.2 GHZ. I'm just sayin'
