Intellipoint Shortcuts Display Wrong Icons

Hello, I have installed Intellipoint 7.0 and the shortcuts display the wrong icons.

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing Intellipoint, and deleting the IconCache.db to no avail. If you right-click and select properties the change icon button is disabled. I would normally just create new shortcuts, but all of the shortcuts point to the same target (the Intellipoint directory in the Program Files folder). Could someone tell me how to correct this or explain how these strange shortcuts work?

Same problem:
IntelliPoint IPx64_1033_7.10.344.0 and IntelliType ITPx64_1033_7.00.260.0.
Tried uninstalling > boot > reinstalling, thought there might be something with my ACDSee so changed plugin settings in ACDSee for ICO - no change.
Adobe Reader icon was corrupt as well, but after upgrading version problem seem to have disappeared.
Only other corrupt icon I seem to find in Start Menu is the Microsoft Office Groove 2007 - tried to fix it with the Detect and Repair features of office - no change.

Any ideas how to address this?!

Problem workaround

I found this thread when googling about the same issue (incorrect icons). I have found a workaround of sorts for this. while my fix will not give the correct icon to all intellipoint or intellitype shortcuts, it will create a new shortcut with the appropriate icon on the desktop to the actual utility.

I noticed that both intellitype and intellipoint are integrated into the control panel, which also had the correct icons:
  1. open control panel (the view should be set to "Icons")
  2. right click on either "mouse" or "keyboard"
  3. click on create shortcut!
opening these icons allows you to adjust both standard control panel settings and intellitype/point options such as macro keys
