Intermittent freezes and occasional BSOD's over last 6 months

Here's what I've done over those 6 months:
Updated all drivers, tested for overheating, re-installed windows 7 Pro over the top of prior install. Cleared out all ATI drivers and reinstalled. Tried everything I could think of. I am not sure how best to use the Dump files to solve the problem, but am pretty sure I still have an ATI card issue. Tried going back to older drivers to no avail.

Have used the following tools to try to resolve this: BlueScreenView, Driver Reviver, Driver Sweeper, MS FixIt, and Driver Agent.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Thx. Here's what I found so far.

As I Uninstall each the USB Drivers under "USB Serial Bus Controller" they reappear within a minute or two without rebooting. I've uninstalled most of them twice or more only to have them all reinstall themselves. so they must be valid.

I tried moving to MS Security Essentials in the past as part of my troubleshooting and found I killed a day trying to get Security Essentials to believe I had a legit Windows install on my Dell (not unusual I hear) and then I just gave up and went back to Trend Micro.

Turned off everything in my startup ececpt Trend Micro, but not sure how I'm going to be able to work without Carbonite, iCloud, Dropbox & my Dell Dock. But I will try it for a couple days if that is what it takes to track this problem down. Checking Roxio now - rarely use it.

You turn off USB Selective Suspense, if it is already on.

The time difference between my previous post ans your reply is two hours only. TrendMicro is the problem on your computer.

Programs not starting up with windows does not mean that you are work without those. They all are installed in you computer, use those when you want.

But, if you dont follow or reluctant to follow instructions, it is you who will not get the desired results.

I think you mis-read my post. I had tried replacing Trend Micro earlier this year with Security Essentials in an effort to solve this issue. I was unsuccessful getting Security Essentials to install correctly back then and decided to NOT make the issue bigger, so I went back to Trend Micro. This was months ago.

I will try what you tell me to try. But I can't afford to lose a bunch of time trying things that haven't been successful before. If you can step me through the Security Essentials issues, if they arise, I will try it again, but it may be next week before I can get to it.

I am working through the USB issue now.

Jake, during the troubleshooting period you must to uninstall TrendMicro. Coz it is the largest issue there. If, by any chance you are having a trouble to install MSE, try Avast Free.

As long as TrendMicro will be there, the crashes will not stop.

Am trying to re-install MS SE now. So far no issues. It looked like I had tried 32 bit before. SE is now installed. Trend Micro is gone! Was never able to get the USB unistalls to work since Windows 7 kept re-installing them automatically, despite following your instruction via link provided and the following other links I found: http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/5010-how-stop-win-7-driver-software-installation.html and How to Stop Windows 7 Automatic Driver Installation

Neither solved the USB Uninstall issue. I gave up trying to uninstall USB drivers until I find a way to turn off the automatic re-install issue.

BTW - I do NOT have any Roxio virtual drives installed that I can find. Did some searching but none show up except Carbonite.

Usually the drivers got installed at restart. But if they are reinstalling just after Uninstall, you are at no loss, coz you have uninstalled them, and that is our target to uninstall the existing ones.

It is also good that you dont use any virtual drive emulator.

Now, use the computer normally. Report us back later. if there is any further crashes, post the recent dumps.

PC froze again this weekend. Rebooted. Never got a BSOD. Waiting for it to happen again and hoping for BSOD.

What were you doing that time when it froze?

Bont expect a BSOD, they are not any good :)

Reseat the RAM, SATA and Power cables, clean the edges of those with cotton cloth. It may work freely then.

Will try your recommendations tomorrow. I was not at the computer at the time it crashed. Screen was black and would not respond to keyboard or mouse to bring back to life [Typical of what I usually see]. No programs were running at the time. (when I walk away for the day, I clear all open apps except a Sensor Panel from AIDA64 that I've been using to track down possible heat issues leading to this problem) Had to reboot.

No problems so far.

Dont worry. If it freezes without a crash, the situation is comparatively better I hope :)
