Intermittent W7 Performance advice to change USB Ports

Hello,
Within the last several weeks I have been getting pop-up advice to change my USB devices to higher speed USB 2 ports. This is W7 Ultimate 64bits. I have changed no hardware. I will attempt to get a snapshot of the pop-up. Any ideas?

Assuming this is happening on your computer in your specs which is obviously not old enough to have USB 1.1 ports (you get said message when a USB 2.0 device is plugged into a USB 1.1 port) it is most likely the device you are plugging in messing up. I have two flash drives that when plugged in to a USB 2.0 port that message pops up saying they aren't. Don't know why they do this, one was chewed on by my cat and it started doing it intermittently, the other just got really hot and turned off after copying files for awhile and since then it always did it. Since they were replaced by bigger drives by the time it happened (they are 128MB and 1GB) I never bothered researching it. But wanted to chime in and subscribe to see if anyone can provide actual help for this.

Thank you for responding. It appears on what the system describes as a mass storage device which I am pretty sure is a mult-card and USB reader on my computer. You believe that the device itself may be failing?
Easy to change out. Hope you are right!
