Internal Error: Failed to get path of 64-bit Program Files directory.

I have been getting the above error on every 64-bit software I try to install, I also looked at the keys in the registry for CurrentVersion and there is nothing there, which worries me. Is there a way to fix this without reinstalling windows?

I looked in the registry at

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

.

I attached the output of 'sfc /scannow' in sfcout.txt

Here is a screenshot of everything in the CurrentVersion folder:

Hi Tom,
you definately seem lacking, here's mine
W7 Home premium 64bit.

Something has definately "removed" them, suggest you run
Malwarebytes free, (uncheck trial- Enable RootKit in dashboard)

Question: If I do this will it disable my MBAM trial and make me pay?

Also, I have a very bad habit of shutting down by holding the power button in, I am trying to get over that habit. Could that have caused this?

Hi Tom,

no unchecking that option just means that you WONT get a nag in 30 days time saying buy me!!!

Please DO NOT use the hard shutdown method, it can easily corrupt anything downloading/installing and
Yes it could have caused this.

To make life easier for shutting down,
In your power option settings
Power buttons and lid (expand)
Lid closure action to shutdown
