Everything was working fine, until recently, I was watching a film on my WD TVs and it kept stopping and going back to the title screen then it was not discoverable. Upon putting it into the pc I had a message saying I had to reformat it before using. So I recovered some data using software then reformatted. now when I'm using it when transferring large files it keeps disconnecting and transfer rate is slow. What are you thoughts guys.

Check your drive with WD Datalifeguard Diagnostic for Windows.. Software and Firmware Downloads | WD Support Run quick Test and then extended test. How to test a drive for problems using Data Lifeguard Diagnostics for Windows | WD Support

If it could repair the bad sectors and gives a Pass, then You can use it. If it fails, the drive will no longer be reliable for use. Give it a last chance. Use Erase to low level format it, do a regular format after the Erase operation and rerun Quick Test and Extended Test. If the extended Test still fails retire the drive.
