Is there any online email service similar to Hotmail?

After hearing that Hotmail will be gone for good (replaced by outlook), I was wondering if there is any other services like Hotmail in terms of layouts, security and simplicity?

After getting used to using Hotmail for years, I just hate the looks on the outlook/Gmail and I can't really grasp their features. I've also tried looking for other services though I don't see any which fits into my needs.

The only email services I know of and have used is Yahoo mail, Gmail, and Hotmail. I still have the same look of Hotmail because I didn't opt to switch it. I'm sure they'll probably force people to later though.

I have already started to receive emails and the daily pop-up nag to switch to Outlook !
The option to try it and or switch back and forth is no longer available. So it will be Outlook or something else.

Outlook may actually be the closest to Hotmail. I also use Yahoo, but the classic, which is very similar. I don't know if you can use classic on a new account. I use it because the new Yahoo was not built with Opera in mind. A Guy

hotmail's outlook is really not that different for email. i switched ages ago and i like it. all the email features are the same.

I just got switched to Outlook without any warnings and I don't have any options to change back to Hotmail.

Have a look at gmx .com as an alternate , it has a mail collection system that will allow you to collect any outlook mail into the new address

Sadly, you can't. You get stuck with the latest abomination and aren't allowed to switch back.

Same here and from my sources as of June everyone will be forced to switch over to outlook.com (and yes you can keep your msn, hotmail and live email address) and if you do not switch you will be dropped from the service. The compromise was to allow you to keep your old email addresses because people complained that they did not want to change due to the problem of changing everything
