Java detection issue

Hi, first post here for me.. After successfully installing the latest version of Java (6.0.260) and then running the detection tool, it keeps telling me it does not detect Java on my computer. I've tried rebooting after install, uninstalling and reinstalling, using the offline version and every troubleshooting tip listed after the non-detection message. I'm using IE10 with the 32-bit browser. Java used to run fine until lately. I'd appreciate any suggestions on other solutions. Everything I've tried has failed. Thanks!

Hi welcome to Seven Forums,
Open Internet explorer,
Use Alt+TA or Gear symbol on the top right and Manage add-ons
Click on Show all add-ons on the left middle of you screen,
Then see if Java is Enabled.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/manage-add-ons#ie=ie-10-win-7
Also you might switch to Software rendering,
Alt+TO
Internet options/ Advanced/ Check the top box/ Apply and Okay.

Thanks TZ for the tips. Java was enabled, and I checked the 'use software rendering' box as suggested. I restarted and Java still isn't being detected.

I have a question:

Do you actually use websites that run java? Do you use Java?

If not, (and its unlikely you do) I would uninstall java completely. It is a huge security risk. Malware has been using Java a lot lately to infect machines. Even Macs. So if you do not use it its better to uninstall it.

Now to your problem:

Most webbrowsers now actually disable java from running in them due to the security risks lately. I would check internet explorers addons under tools-manage addons. Make sure java is enabled under toolbars and extensions.

BTW, the latest version of java is: Version 7 Update 25 not version 6 like you stated.

Edit: Whoops looks like I was sitting on this page for too long without noticing it.

Your awesome for reading this.
Andrew, you're correct, it is version7-25 (7.0.250) that I loaded. I do in fact use a web based program that uses Java. When I try to bring up a certain page it tells me Java isn't installed. It used to open these pages before. Thanks

You can always post a link to a website which prompts the popup message,
I personally do not have Java installed because I do not need it,
As far as I know Java is more for games/ script..
Press the F12 key and click on Browser mode and see what is being used Document mode as well,
Click on either and manually switch I primarily use ie10 and standards.
