javascript missing, reset in FF to no avail, help please help


Reset javascript several times in latest FF to no avail. Is there anything else that may go hand in hand w/javascript that I may have missed.

Thanks for your quick response. I have a 2nd pc I can use as I'm in the process of setting up aa new w10.
The image below gives all the steps I took. Chkd it twice. I'm a ret business mgr, lots of first line Win/PC experience, but not a techie on all the underlying tech details, possibilities.


By your handle, may I assume you are/were an F22 Raptor pilot. I spent some time 40 yr ago at Myrtle Beach & got to know many of the A10 pilots. I was even able to squeeze into the cock pit. They wouldn't
let me fire THE GUN though. ha ha

Have you any other browser if so does it work with them? How do you know it's missing what firewall anti virus are you using

Okay, that pref as it's called in about:config is just an on and off switch for JS. Not a refresh that you think it is. JS is built into the browser and should work right out of the box as you may know. To see if this is plug-in or add-on related start FF in safe mode. To do that press and hold the shift key and double click on the FF icon. Go to a website that uses JS.


Question: How do you know JS is off to begin with? Is a website telling you so?


No, I'm not a former F22 pilot. My user name is F22 Simpilot and I'm a Flight Simulator pilot in the simulator FSX currently. I fly around mostly in a F22 with a highly customized cockpit I created myself for utility. I do know my way around a 737 NG and all its bells and whistles along with knowing how to use the FMC (Flight Management Computer). If 19 hijackers can fly a plane, I would bet serious coin in Vegas that I could take off and land a 737 NG. I follow all the checklists with an App, you name it. I do know how to read SIDs and STARS, etc.

The A-10 is one of my favorite aircraft in the U.S. inventory. Along with the F-22 and B-2. The A-10 is actually built around the gun and the whole plane actually goes back a slight bit when it's fired. Made of titanium it can take a beating and some have and made it back to base.

Thanks for your patience as Comcast was down for a while. See attached image of Javascript enabled using the safe mode. I think can sent a screen capture of all values in about:config if you think it will help?

Does this portable version of FF give you the same trouble with JS?

Could not get FF port to install.

F22 Simpilot. Despite the fact that I have easily installed 44 portable over the 10+ yr, I Could not get FF port to install. I always end up with this error msg: Install it a reliable? real? folder etc? Ive installed Port App files by themselves before in: Program Files/ Portable Apps/INSTALLED APP. regards, klxdrt

You suggestin of FF Port worked. Downloaded from different site.

F22 Simpilot, Thanks, Downloaded FF port from another site, installed ok. Got into Edward Jones & Americian Express. Now how do I import the several hundred log-in/passwords into FF portable without going thru a time consuming cattiwampus process? Does installing/using FF Portable give you a clue to what's wrong with my orig installed FF? Best Regards. Klxdrt

It sounds like perhaps the pref.js file is messed up in your FF install. Try refreshing your FF install following this guide. How to Reset Mozilla Firefox | Tom's Guide

The options are slightly different now, but it's pretty much the same.

As I don't run Windows 10, I'm not on that forum. To me, Windows 10 is a major source of grief probably from forced updates that can and will cause all kinds of problems.

I can't vouch for any of these since I never used them.
