KB4100480 Windows kernel update for CVE-2018-1038 for Windows 7

It only went intolerably slow after I installed KB 4100480. Running System Restore put matters right. I can only guess that this old AMD equipped system did not receive or need any Meltdown fix from Microsoft. If that is the case, it's a pity that KB4100480 did not have an appropriate check coded into it. Trouble is that I am not sure and I have diminishing confidence in Microsoft to issue trustworthy updates or to provide helpful information about them.

I rolled my PC back to my pre-January Updates Image.
It actually seems to run smoother.

I guess I'll have to rely on my Backup Images for security (just like my XP install & VM).

Showed up on my systems this morning. MS must have fixed the detection for this patch.

I think I am a bit late regarding the recent update by Brink here -
https://www.sevenforums.com/news/413895-kb4099950-update-windows-7-april-2-2018-a.html

and pages 3 & 4 of the below thread -
https://www.sevenforums.com/news/413507-march-13-2018-kb4088878-security-only-update-windows-7-a-3.html

I have the security only updates installed for Jan/Feb and March - none seem to be causing any problems.
It would appear that I should have installed KB4099950 prior to KB4088878?
Needless to say I am also completely confused by this matter concerning KB4100480.
Should I remove/system restore prior to the install of 4088878 then install 4099950 and follow-up with the reinstalling of 4088878?
Advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you're only using your systems in a home environment and haven't had any network issues after you installed the March update, then I wouldn't worry about the order they're installed tbh. I've only really seen reports of any issues in business or VM environments. Just keep regular system images. I think installing after the March update will be fine. If you're really concerned about it though, I would rollback to before the March update, install the network fix then reinstall the March update.

I've seen some users rollback to before the January update, but I change that many things on my PC every week, I just can't be bothered to go all the way back to January. I'll only do that as a last resort and I'm having serious PC issues.

I haven't noticed any day to day slowdowns on my PCs, and I don't pay much notice to benchmarks either. But, I've noticed some users reporting they've had noticeable performance hits over the last few months.

Hi Brds
Many thanks for your response.
I only use my PC in a home environment and I can say I too have not noticed any issues at the moment I will leave matters as they are and 'let sleeping dogs lie'.
I will just carry on installing the security updates only - after a week has passed and no big probs are found here, in the MS forums and Ask Woody.
