Keyboard randomly stops working

So i have windows ultimate 32 bit, and i noticed this problem. My keyboard randomly, doesnt matter what im doing, stops working. All i hear is a beep and then the keyboard is frozen. Sometimes i can go into on-screen keyboard and press a few buttons and my keyboard will unfreeze, but sometimes i have to restart or put the computer to sleep so it unfreezes. It's highly annoying, because sometimes it freezes after a few key presses, but sometimes it works no-problem. I tried a different keyboard (mine is ps/2), i tried removing drivers and reinstalling them, but nothing seems to work. So anybody, help? Thanks.

Hello Jay and welcome to Seven Forums. Sorry to hear you're having these issues.

I understand that you already tried a different keyboard on your computer, but did you also try using the problem keyboard on a different computer? Have you tried using a different USB port? I found this previous Forum thread that has some additional suggestions. (Even though it talks about a mouse and keyboard issue, the suggestions are still valid for any USB device.)
