Okay, for the past 3 days my laptop has automatically shutdown twice.
My laptop is at least 6 years old and it never acted like this before in his lifetime.
Can anyone tell me what's causing it?

Things to keep in mind are:
- I keep my laptop open usually 24/7
- I don't think it's a virus cause I've never changed my way of using it for the past years and I scan often and it all returned negative (virus, malware, spyware)
- No hardware/software changes so everything is at it's version of when it was working (I don't update)
- Not a heat problem. I monitor my system temperature and it was 65-75°C at the time of shutdown

I've attached the eventlog during shutdown too if that will help.

Thanks!

does anything show up in resource manager.
Although >>you<< dont update:confused: progs are still trying to phone home for updates, not just MS, the W10 do you want me does, it might be that they all try at the same time.

The only other thing i can think of is that maybe its a BSOD.

I made sure that none of the programs installed "never update" nor "check for updates" so I don't think that's it. All my programs are pretty old school too nothing above 2012 asides from games.
It's not a BSOD either since it doesn't show me the blue screen.

If I had to describe what happens it's like when you unplug your laptop when the battery isn't in place.
Just a total black out shutdown.

It may be a memory problem? Since I've been getting the message "You are running out of memory. Please close xxx program to free some memory.", but it usually brings out that pop-up when that happens. This time it's just like what I said, an instant black out shutdown.

I feel sure it is a heat problem. A CPU at 65 to 70 at shutdown is hot. It was hotter than that before it shutdown. Go to this link
https://www.piriform.com/speccy/download and download the Free Speccy. Install and monitor your heat. This program monitors all things, not just your CPU. There are bars, green, yellow and red. This will tell you what is hot. Run your PC and check all of the things it monitors and get back to us. Good Luck.

Thanks for the reply bigmck but as I said it's not a heat problem.
I've had heat shutdowns before when I had to change the thermal paste and lube my fan so I know my laptop shutdowns at at least 90°C~.

I use hwinfo to monitor my system as I can say that at time of shutdown the temperatures were:
- CPU: 64°C
- Motherboard: 68°C
- HDD: 35°C
- Graphics card: 46°C
