Hi, what do you mean by redirecting?
Your Laptop can bridge two networks, but each network must run off a different ethernet port/wireless card.

If your laptop is plugged in somewhere via ethernet you could create an ad hoc network using the wifi card and bridge the ad hoc network and the ethernet connection using the laptop.

hi cashng, yes this is possible, can you fill out your system specs under the User CP at the top please? its not needed for this, but it is always useful,

what operating system is the Laptop using? also is there any reason why the desktop cant connect directly to the router through ethernet?

osholt: i think the OP means Internet connection sharing, congrats on the new badge by the way!

Yes, it's called an Ad-Hoc network. If place "Ad-Hoc Windows 7" in google you should find a fairly detailed tutorial or seven.

Here's an app I just found that might help you:

Connectify - Turn your Windows 7 laptop into a Wi-Fi Hotspot

That app should work much better than an Ad-Hoc network because you can apparently use it to create a wireless network and use that same wireless card to connect to the internet. This is normally impossible w/ Ad-Hoc.

severedsolo: My laptop is running win7 ultimate x86, the reason for this is because the router is placed in another room in the house, and i've just placed a pc in my room therefore there is not internet connection to this pc that i want to use. so i am thinking to use my laptop connect to the router, and let my pc connect to laptop using eth cable in order to use the internet. is there anyway i can do this?

notsograymatter: thanks for the posted. will try out now. thanks

yes there is, in fact its very easy, all you need to do is:

from the laptop, open network and sharing centre (under control panel)
click change adapter settings,
right click your wireless adapter, and click properties,
under the sharing tab, select "allow other users to share this computers internet connection"

and thats it! just one thing to note, a "standard" ethernet cable may not work, you might need to use a crossover cable, don't know where your from, but here in the UK they are about £4 from argos

I've just tried out notsograymatter's suggestion and found it to absolutely wonderful and would recommend it if you don't want to mess around with wires.

I went to rep him and found I couldn't! Keep up the good work.
