Hi, all! I just installed the latest Windows Updates . It caused Internet Explorer 11 to not open webpage and crash almost instantly. I did a System Restore and the problem was no longer there. Has anyone else had a problem like this or know which particular update may have caused this problem? Note that my Firefox and AOL browsers were not affected by the updates.
Thanks, Mark

I'm an IT admin and am starting to see widespread reports of this also. Affecting systems with Windows 7 x64 Professional with IE11.

Google search with last 24 hours sent me to here, so hopefully others will post more info as this unfolds. Likely another bad update for MS.

Does anyone know yet which update is the cause? I'm in IT as well am dealing with quite a few users with this issue. Have removed KBs 3154070, 2153199, 3153171 with a fix.

Yes! At least one cause... an associate of mine has figured out it's a conflict with certain antivirus software. Every business we know that has 3rd party AV and Trusteer Rapport banking software installed has the problem. The temporary solution/workaround is to add iexplore to the Exceptions list of your AV software. That did the trick for us, now to figure out which KB caused the problems and remove it!

If it's causing major problems with IE, then I wonder if KB3154070 is the cause? As that is the Cumulative Security update for IE11.
I haven't installed any of this months on my system yet so can't say 100% for sure.

Thanks for the replies! After I did the System Restore which fixed the problem, I reinstalled the updates but not KB3154070. Everything was ok with IE 11. Then I installed KB3154070, rebooted and everything was still ok. I was also thinking that KB3154070 may have initially caused the problem but now I'm not sure. Note that I use Avira free anti-virus and Trusteer Rapport.
Thanks, Mark

Recently been experiencing similar issues with IE11, too. It would be working most of the time then from out of the blue it wouldn't open any page. I would have to reboot in order to get it working again. Not sure if the recent WU had anything to do with it but it could be, as some have suggested, the IE11 cumulative update.

Just seems to be affecting just one machine that's running W7 32-bit. Probably try uninstalling the suspected KB3154070 and reinstalling after waiting a week to give MS time to fix the bad KB, if it's indeed the cumulative security update for IE.

I'm posting to report that after I installed the aforementioned KB3154070 and the other 13 May10th updates we had, we have had no problems with our machine or any of our browsers.

Using Sophos Home, and Trusteer; The only reasons I can think of for your problem are a missed reboot after installing 3154070 and there were older problems with Avira using "web protection" and I'm seeing recent posts on problems updating avira | google search.

There were "some" (5) other updates that may have had an affect on your updating IE scroll down to:

Individual updates may not be installed, depending on your version of Windows and the version of the affected application. See the individual articles to determine your update status.

I'm running Win 7 32 bit and I can say for sure that KB3154070 Cum IE 11 update is causing my problem of no internet access after installation. I had to remove it through a "restore" and the problem goes away. Also when it was installed, the "needed update" doesn't want to every clear. I have done this exercise a few times and each time KB3154070 is installed, I lost my internet access, but my emails work fine using Office Outlook.
