Lid close action does not work

Hi,

I have a Windows 7 laptop (Thinkpad T420s), Many times I have tried setting the "Power buttons and lid -> Lid close action" to Hibernate on "On Battery" and "Plugged in" but when I click ok and immediately open the same settings via "Change advanced power settings" I see that my changes are not saved and the settings shows default value "Do nothing".

I even tried changing the "Power plan" to Balanced, "Maximum battery life" etc but nowhere I could get this option work.

I tried "powercfg /hibernate on" and then doing the above things but that too did not help?

I tried other option also ("Sleep") , but they too did not work and the settings revert to default "Do nothing" everytime.
Modifying "Change what closing the lid does" also does not work.

Could somebody give me some clue about how do I set it up to Hibernate on "lid close". Right now I have created a shortcut for hibernate and double click on it before closing the lid.

Thanks in advance
Rahul

Hi,

Its a company provided laptop and is on a Domain, It also has Symantec Endpoint encryption (Hard disk encryption software) which starts up at boot time before the windows OS. I guess this must be the reason of my problem, but I can't un-install it as I don't have permissions.

Is there anything that can be done?

Thanks
