Problem: I go to a specific folder and change the view from Details to Icons. All the folders above and below this one (all the way up to Documents) have their view changed. How do I restrict the change only to the current folder?

I seem to remember that in previous versions of Windows I had this option. Now I can't find anything similar.

What happens if, while looking at the folder, you right click, select View then the setting you want? For me it only changes the folder I'm looking at.

Nope. That's exactly the problem, it changes the view for ALL folders from the root to the deepest one.
