Hi,
I need to ask because I'm not sure, I have no doubt someone can enlighten me.
I have PC12800 1600Mhz Ram CAS 9-9-9-9-28
Will it work without problems if I add memory from a different manufacture with a CAS 9-9-9-24 albeit PC12800 1600Mhz . The new ram would be in 2 dual slots currently not used.

I'd certainly expect it to work, if all other specs are the same.
RAM mismatches seem to have been more common years ago, but lately I have heard of fewer issues if care is taken to match the major specifications.
But I don't know how you could ever guarantee it would work.

Generally the bios will time the faster memory down to the rate of the slower memory if it has trouble with it. (larger number = slower when dealing with CAS numbers)
CAS latency isn't nearly as important as frequency though.
This shouldn't be an issue.
It's entirely possible the 28 can be made to run 24 without it messing anything up as well.
That would likely have to be done manually though.

Thanks very much, I had thought that was the case, but not been able to confirm it, until now.

yeah it could be even more mismatched than that and I wouldn't be worried.
