I downloaded the latest Realtek drivers from MS. I received a bunch of files, including about 14 executable files. I don't know where to begin or which and how to install them. I'm not very good at this stuff. I am running Windows 7 Pro 64.

What I really want is to have my music play from all five speakers in my 5.1 setup. But, it only plays thru the left and right front, even though I have selected the 5.1 setup in the Realtek manager.

I would appreciate any help you experts can give me on how to either load the new drivers or, ultimately, get the sound to pump thru all 5.1 speakers. Thanks in advance

First, post your PC specs, we have to guess or offer general suggestions without it.

I don't know about the MS Realtek version. I always download the Realtek drivers direct from Realtek. When you install (or reinstall), the driver package will first uninstall the existing version, require you to restart the PC and after the PC restarts it will continue on and install the Realtek drivers and then finally restart the PC again.

Realtek

In the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Playback panel, click on "Speakers" (Realtek) and then Click CONFIGURE. You can select the speaker type and test each speaker there. If all the speakers do not work, the first thing to do is check the connections. You need 3 connections to the Sound ouput jacks from your 5.1 speaker set. If you have all 3 connected properly and still does not test correctly I would suspect a problem with the 5.1 speaker system (this assumes your PC has 5.1 speaker outputs).
