Windows 7 Home Premium update 10-10-13 (or 10-9-13) locking up after boot on "32% complete".
Tried install disc repair, finds nothing to repair. Memory test is good. Also does not find any image or restore points that should have been made before the update installs.
Tried all Safe Modes, after boot goes to "Failure to configure Windows updates. Reverting changes. Do not turn off computer."
Tried F8 "Last know good configuration" or whatever that option is and it seems to think that since it is booting, then proceeding to "configuring updates" that it was a 'good configuration' even though it locks up at "32%" or "Reverting" stages.
I cannot find any way past or around the update install failure to get to my files or I would backup everything and start over.
I can access the drive and everything on it through the Command Prompt, so I am thinking about trying to copy My Docs, etc. to my backup USB (which is not updated, hence the problem) there if I can.
I looked through the "Download Update.log" but doesn't make much sense to me and no obvious errors.

Any suggestions?

I also have a Win 8 install disc from another computer that I am considering trying to use to "upgrade" this Win 7 and see if I can get to my files. Then I will just revert back to 7 since it will be a "used license" install.

Same update went fine for our old HP laptop.

Anyone?

There is a problem afflicting one of the recent updates causing a stall at 33% - this may be the same one, or it may be different.

You should use System Restore to go back to before the updates, then install each update separately, with a reboot between each, until you hit the problem one.

Then...
