Looking for 8g keychain flashdrive with metal body

I really like how the Extreme Cruzer has a trap door that comes out & covers up the end of the use port even after its been retracted.

But it has no keychain built into it. It has a big leather keychain case, but not what I'm looking for.

I think I may be stuck getting the titanium one which I am reluctant to do because the USB port is still left open for dirt & debris.

Hi there
these aren't so uncommon
here's mine

8GB "Integral" stick -- bought in Dixon's at at Heathrow airport. 16 GB one's common as well now - with nice little leather carrying case.

Photo shown

BTW avoid Heathrow if you can - in a lifetime of working in different countries Heathrow must be one of the most hideous airport experiences ever (and I've been in some rough places in my time such as Port Harcourt in Nigeria etc.)

Cheers

You are certainly right about Heathrow. Some people are always on strike. One time it was the people that fuel the planes (and I was on a leg to San Francisco), another time it was the people who handle the luggage, etc.
An then this termianal 4 (international overseas) at the end of the world. They should fly people there with choppers from T1 - T3.

Yeah I think I'm leaning towards one of the titanium models from sandisk.

I take it having the end port left wide open isnt a concern for most you?

I realize it retracts inside, but it doesnt have any type of dust cover like the Extreme does.

Plenty of USB sticks have an open end.

My old Corsair Voyager went through the washing machine twice without a cap fitted to the business end, worked fine (well as well as it ever had...) afterwards.

To harm the recessed terminals on the LaCie iamakey unit I use now would take a considerable force to cause physical damage, and whilst the contacts are exposed by design, they remain shrouded by the hard metal edges of the key body.

If LaCie and other manufacturers are prepared to offer decent warranties then what's the problem? I doubt they market a design which is actually a loss leader - so I'd have to deduce there's no problem with the exposed contacts.
