Hello!

I need a software or utility to find specific files between two folders

For example :

Scan the files hash in (Folder 1)
Scan the files hash in (Folder 2)

Then find if some of (Folder 1) files is already in (Folder 2)

Hope some one helps

Thanks

:-)

There are several duplicate file finders. You might find one that can scan only your selected folders.

For some free duplicate finder programs, have a look through all five pages here. SnapFiles is my go to website when I'm needing a certain type of program. It's how I found a program called Input Director I use to control the laptop next to me on my desk from my desktop computer. I searched high and low for a great, suitable program beyond what most may use and this program fits the bill perfectly. I also use a local network instance of VNC. I've been using SnapFiles since circa 2007 and have recommend it on various tech forums since then. I actually find the website to be better than Sourceforge. Though, Sourceforge does have some rare and exotic things I'm after. Like a program with the ability to send RS232 serial data over the network and what not.

In addition to the Dup finder programs listed at SnapFiles, I highly recommend Everything.exe by Voidtools. This is my main and only file search program. And because of that, and my use of a SSD, I turned off the Windows indexing service. Everything.exe offers a wealth of features that you'll need to explore and read about. It's also pretty quick at creating its database and updating its database. (Though, I don't leave it run in the system tray. If I did I'd probably never see the program update its database at all. I control what is running in the background of my computer). One cool thing I like about Everything is that if I just want to search for a specif file/s withen a folder and in that folder its subfolders, I can specify search parameters with regex (regular expression) to list EVERYTHING in the path I specify. Having this ability was awesome because I was able to go through a whole mass of MP3s in various folders withen a folder, click the tab above in Everything to sort alphabetically, and knock out the duplicates in a manual fashion. This was a folder with subfolders containing at least 500 MP3s. Also, I can fire up Everything and list all files by date and see data added as I use my computer. Temp files, cookies, EVERYTHING! And no need to show hidden or protected files either. The Everything program will list them whether they are hidden or not. You can even colorize your results for easier finding ability within Everything's options. With the version I have now I'm able to right click a file result in Everything and use the right click context option to open that file in Notepad++. Like the hosts file. But I'm unable to do that on my other computer and I don't know why. I even tried the same version of Everything. I'd have to do some more digging around to find the reason for that. Now, Everything.exe is to files as FileSeek is to text. So, if you want to search within files for text, then FileSeek is your answer. Fantastic program and has allowed me to find bits of code in PHP files and what not and piece together what goes on behind the scenes of some things. I was able to search withen a decompiled omni.ja file of my browser and modify some small things to my liking because of FileSeek's ability to search for text withen files. Like HTML, JS or PHP files, etc. (It's not recommended to mess with the omni.ja file though, and has to be repacked just right. Even then, I had no issues with performance or anything).

FileSeek is developed by Binary Fortress and they also make an awesome program called VoiceBot. VoiceBot allows you to control your computer with your voice. I use it to control Spotify and other things, but you have to fine grain control the settings otherwise you'll get false input and whatnot. A wake (trigger) word is best practice. I might say something like, "Alice, skip." And the next song plays. Or, "Alice, pause." And Spotify pauses. I even have VoiceBot lock or turn off my computer by executing a lock computer or shutdown icon on the desktop. "Alice, code red." And the computer shuts down. I bought both programs as I thought they were worth the money. FileSeek: Lightning Fast File Search by Binary Fortress Software

Thank you very much brothers !

I find a good utility called (Smart File Finder) here

2022-05-13_011322.jpg

It's what I'm looking for it exactly (Compare file content to folder content by hash)

But unfortunately it supports single file only no multi-files scan at once

And it's also slow when comparing a file to a folder that contains many files

Any similar app with a better features ?

Thanks

I have used this program for a long time. There are probably better programs out there but I have found no reason to change.
