Solved Lucid MVP

Dude

Breaking Bad
So browsing through my motherboard disc I found this so gave it a shot. I ran futuremark and it did score higher. My disc provided a thirty day trial. I have been looking around but am confused.

Some state the license is in the bios when you buy the motherboard. My question is can I purchase it from Lucid, or would I have to have a different motherboard. Reading through other forums some say it works and others say nope, just 30 day trial.

To clarify, if my board can run the trial I would think I could purchase it, but then comes the does the license have to be embedded in the bios when purchasing the motherboard.

Hi Dude,

My motherboard came with the 1st version of Lucid, after looking around it appears the Lucid 2.0 is not free even in basic form apart from a 30 day trial.

However you can download and use the original Lucid here - lucidlogix with GPU Solution and use it for as long as you like. It is the 1st version, but is still updated regularly as you can see on the download links.

I cannot be 100% certain it will work with your motherboard though.

Edit: As far as I know, Lucid is just another bit of software, once you buy it you should be able to download it and install it on any motherboard, and again if you change your board.
Here's a link to the main product page - http://www.lucidlogix.com/eshop.shtml

I read a little more on the site, once purchased you download it, but must make a copy of the software to keep for yourself as you can only download your new software for a limited period of time after your purchase. (After the expiration of the download period for your product purchase, your download will no longer be available).

Thanks Paul, The score is better with it, will have to game and see how it does.

My system runs it, but my board does show on the supported board list. So I don't have the bios settings for it. That"s the part I'm wondering about, since I can run the trial it should work.

I had a play with lucid when I first found out about it, I got some impressive gains in some benchmarks but didn't notice any difference in games. It only works on software / games that it has profiles for. I got bored with it so turned it off after a few days.

I think the real benefit is being able to use your dedicated graphics card, and ALSO utilize QuickSync if your CPU supports it. Also, while doing some things, the on-chip graphics will handle the brunt of the load until more power is needed and then the GPU kicks in. Those are just a couple of features in addition to the iGPU and dGPU running in conjuction, resulting in more powerful graphics processing :)

That's one reason I was looking at it. I use both my vid card and the IGPU. I have a second monitor I use for monitoring temps, and viewing teampspeak while I game etc hooked to the onboard. I know I could hook them both to my nvidia card but since the onboards there I use it too.

Lucky MS MVP's, even Lucid is telling them

Game responsiveness is all about how fast your eye → brain → mouse click → game response behaves. When interacting with your computer, the responsiveness is a key factor to your productivity and overall systems experience. When it comes to playing games, especially fast moving ones like First Person Shooters, responsiveness becomes critical for both mastering the game and enjoying and immersive experience.
