Solved Map a drive...

Greetings,

I currently use a Linksys router e3200 with a USB port in the back. When I want to share files on the USB with other computers in my household, I know how to access the files from another computer. The technician taught me how to map a drive \\198.162.1.1\unique name through my router. After that, the other members in my network can open My Computer and see the added USB.

My question to you is: how can I share files or folders with members in my network if the router did not have a USB? For instance, if I write a document, how can other members view the document with their own computer?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Hello,

You will need to share the folders then give permission to the Users that need to access the shared folders.

First off, create a Homegroup and share Files/Printer:
Home sweet homegroup: Networking the easy way in Windows 7

Then, set permissions for the Users:
Set Permissions for Shared Folders

FYI...It's easier to plug in the USB Ext. Device in the router and share the files that way. Some of these Network Storage device have ethernet ports, so instead of USB cable you would use a patch network cable then plug it in to your router's LAN Port. :D
