I imagine many will post on here stating there pcs are freezing ect. They are on top of it and seem to be working on it, I have disabled it for the time being by disabling the MBAM service itself or else it will auto restart and again quickly eat all of your RAM.

I fought with that for almost half an hour before I was finally able to get the service disabled; it took over half a dozen attempts to get the blasted thing to stop and stay stopped.

Malwarebytes has had frequent problems with bad updates ever since V2 came out. What really bites (bytes?) my ample asset (beside tall dogs with bad taste) is I had automatic updates turned off yet the blasted thing still installed this broken one. Frankly, there is no excuse for this outrage. Obviously, their idiot software designers didn't bother to fully test this update before unleashing it on their customers. Those morons should be fired (then shot), then replaced with competent designers.

It seems to be fixed now and was only an issue on premium users as it was with the real time protection. I updated to the newest one now and no issue, I will keep tabs on it though.

EDIT: had to restart the service 2 times to get to stop eating RAM so will see if it sticks. You know there is an issue when your render uses less RAM then MBAM.

Well that answers the question of why I have been plagued with low system memory alerts today - first time in 5 years or so that I have seen those. Initially thought it was Exact Audio Copy as I have been using that this afternoon for the first time in ages but problem solved now.

These were the directions posted on the Malwarebytes(my ample asset) forums:

*** How to resolve / verify you have the fixed update package ***

• Update package version 1.0.3803 or higher contains the fix
• To resolve, simply reboot your machine. In some cases, a second or even third reboot may be needed.
• To verify you have this update, go to Settings -> About -> Update package version: 1.0.3803

Rather than risk going though the hassle of multiple reboots in an attempt to get the stupid program to update itself, after reenabling it in services (funny, that took only one try), I manually told the program to check for updates and apply them. Even though, once the updates were applied, the program said nothing about needing to do a reboot, when I was unable to get Web Protection to turn on, so I did a reboot. That seems to have fixed it.

Glad it got fixed, my machine luckily never crashed but gave tons of errors, my clients server on the other hand had all 256GB of RAM taken and then it crashed. I imagine it was horrible for some people, there forums were filling up at 2 posts a minute.

Yet one more proof that antiviruses are obsolete things of the past.

Years ago Malwarebytes BDOSed my computer a few times, got removed since then and never looked back. Other antiviruses with similar results or ineffective scans were also tested and removed.

Now I'm happy with learning security instead of trusting on magic.
