hey guys. I just installed windows 7 and am having a little problem. I have a laptop, and use the touch mouse pad on the laptop. However, whenever I am holding the right click button, and move my finger around the mouse pad, windows media center opens!!??? This is very annoying especially when I am playing games. Ive disabled the Media Center services and it still opens. Anyone know why this combination makes the media center open, and how to fix it? Thanks a bunch!

Hi, Welcome to SF,

That's really a strange behaviour. Maybe you could remove Media Center if your not using
Go To Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows features on or off > expand the media features folder uncheck Media center

Then see whether that fixes the problem

Hope this helps

Do you have some sort of mouse gesture setup to where right click and whatever movement you're doing launches WMC?

My thought is that you are acually hitting a key (or as advised above you had previously setup your touchpad gesture to mimic CTL + Key) and that key is listed here in the control TV link:

Windows Media Center keyboard shortcuts

There should be a control panel item for your touchpad, review it.

Capt. Jack Sparrow, thanks a bunch, it worked! I really appreciate it.

Not to be cynical, while that may have "solved" the problem, it would have been nice to know why the mouse was doing that in the first place. Did you try flig or swansons option? Sorry if I seem like a party pooper, lol? Being in IT, I strive to know why something happened rather than just eliminating problem. It's like some techs, they would just reimage your pc rather than try to figure why the issue happened in the first place.
