Hello everyone,

I have this issue that no matter how much ram i have installed it only shows half on my Windows 7 64 bit system.

when i bought it it had 4gb installed, but i could only use 1.99,
so i installed 2GB more from my old computer(which had DDR3 ram as well) but now it shows 2.99 Usable with 6GB installed.

in BIOS it also shows 3 thousand something. and showed 2k something with only the original parts.

and yes i'm sure i run a 64bit system and not a 32bit as it says so below how much ram i have installed and can use.

anyone know what causes this and knows how i can fix it? had blue screen 2-3 times now cause to much memory was used. and its bugging me so to speak.

any help would be great. i will call the support over the new year tho, but would be great to get help if anyhone know why. you can see my specs on my profile.

Thanks,

Jade

Jade Hi and welcome

Nice post. You may have a setting in bios called max mem. check and it should be unchecked.

Let us know if that doesnt help

Hey Ken,

Thanks. ^^

I asume you mean the one in MSconfig? at advanced options inside boot, I have already checked it, and it was Off.

I've read countless of threads now, searched and everything tried to fix it. but yeah the max mem in MS config aint enabled, I've checked for the Mapping future in BIOS as well, but couldn't find it.

If you didn't I will check the BIOS for it. but I'm not to 'good' with BIOS so any help there would be apriechiate.

and excuse me for my bad spelling at times. English ain't my first language and I have Dyslexia. :/

You should take out all but one stick and boot up, shut down completely unplug the machine and push the start button. Put in one more stick and boot up again then make sure the next stick shows up. Repeat the process until all memory is installed. It will usually show up after you do that.

As for the unstable problem, you will need to adjust bios setting to help support the 6GB. Possibly CPU vtt will need adjusting and memory voltage and memory settings need to be correct. Sometimes the SMP memory profile can make these adjustments for you.

You may need to go to the Kingston forum to get precise bios settings for your memory to run stable on your particular board.

Hey Chev,

I tried that but for some reason now when i'm trying to boost up my system all the fans and stuff starts but it doesnt seem to actually start if you know what i mean, i get no num lock light o my keyboard, no image on the screen(doesnt even get a green light instead of the orange one). motherboard lights up and everything, video card's fan starts, all other fans on the computer starts etc.

there was also another problem while it was still booting, the video card at times reset :S but yeah I'm gonna call the producer after new year. cause this computer is giving me more problems then my old one which was working fine just wanted a upgrade after 5 years >.<

anyways thanks for your help guys ;-)

Most likely one of the memory sticks is not fully seated in the slot. It may look like it's in all the way but sometimes they aren't. I would push them in a bit harder to make sure. I've been fooled by this myself.

I also had this problem last week, I had 4 gigs ram and installed win7 x64, it told me that 4g are installed but only 2g are usable, I tried all possible solutions but no luck at all, at the end my bios dropped dead and the MB has been at maintenance since then..

yeah that worked Chev, fairly sure i already checked that tho :S but the above thing didn't work, can still only use half the memory. which blows :(

still can't find any mapping info or anything, but this is quite odd, wondering whats causing the memory to be gone :S
